Our History

The Sanctuary Burlington began as the first daughter church from The Sanctuary in Oakville, with a dream to reach out in the city of Burlington and presenting clearly the love of Christ in practical, tangible and eternal values. The first pastoral team, Ray & Sandra Swash, Brad & Lisa Klinck and Evelyn & Brian DeKleine shared together a passion to present the good news of Christ in a way outside of “normal” church with a high emphasis on people being received where they might be on their spiritual journey.

With tremendous encouragement, shared support and prayerful consideration, The Sanctuary – Burlington began “Preview” services in September 2002, with its formal launch January 12, 2003.

In 2004, we were privileged to invite Tim Moore to join us as our new worship pastor. Within the next year of Tim's life he found himself being married to Andra, who also shares in ministry with Tim, overseeing our KidZone.

As well in 2004 we were invited to consider a move into Tansley Woods Community Centre on the basis of sharing with the city a ‘real’ heart for community.  We have been blessed to be able to call this community centre our home as it is very much a hub of busyness and activity on Sunday mornings.

On March 7, 2010 we began a new chapter of our journey - a move to the West Side of Oakville . . . and so we await the history in which God continues to write in the lives of his people . . .
